How to Twist a Hank

View SlideshowA few folks have asked me how to make a twisted hank. I've done this over a thousand times, so I take it for granted. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I made a little slideshow to demonstrate. Basically, you twist the hank around itself until tight, fold it in half, and then encourage it to curl around itself, then tuck one end into the other. And don't forget a label too - especially helpful if you keep yarn for many years before knitting it. I jot down the fiber contents, yardage, gauge, needle size, and care instructions.

  1. That is so cute, thanks for sharing your slideshow! I actually make my hanks like that but mine never turn out as pretty and sort of fall apart. Maybe I need more kung-fu twist!
