Recycled Silk Yarn
Look what came in the mail today! The dazzling jewel tones and the word "silk" beckoned me to spend $20 for nearly 2 pounds of this yarn. The texture feels more like burlap than silk, so I wouldn't want this next to my skin! Maybe washing will help, but the hanks have no label, so I've no idea how to care for this. I love the colors and texture, so I was hoping to wear it on my body. Maybe a vest, cardigan, or poncho would be ok with a shirt underneath. If not, it will still make a neat purse. I shall swatch, wash, and observe....

Hello! I'm your sock pal for sockapalooza! This will be so much fun, I can't wait to pick out great yarn for your socks! =)
ReplyDeleteI have seen some items knitted from the the Recycled Silk Yarn after they had been washed. It was beautiful, the colors were vibrant and the texture was soft and drapey. I'm not sure of the care instructions but I would guess hand wash, very gentley, and lay flat to dry.
