Knitting as Always

Yes, I'm still knitting, quite a bit actually, and that's why you haven't seen me around here. After many appearances at Knit-Nites and the like, I finally finished the Chocolate Watermelon Socks, just in time for fall.

hand-dyed, hand-knitted

I dyed some yarn, namely for Lisa, the winner of my guessing game. She expressed fondness for watermelon yarn, so I made a fresh batch. Just before I sent it, she mentioned she was looking forward to knitting socks with her new yarn. So I set aside that aran weight watermelon (not to worry, it longs to become a Booga Bag) and dyed another batch with fingering weight instead. I always aim to please.

I hosted a little spinning party, and after a few tries, finally got the feel for drafting fibers and operating a handspindle. However, my single ply on its own is spun too tighly, but it will be great for my first attempting at plying. See my spinning adventures on Flickr.

Finally, a long overdue Craftster.org exchange project is now an FO. I've learned that designing with new techniques is not a good thing to master under deadlines. But in the end, the seamless top-down set-in sleeves bolero kissed with a lacy cable edging is gorgeous. Thanks Barbara G. Walker!

I will post photos once they all have reached their intended recipient. Thank you for waiting ladies. Sorry I'm such a procrastinator.
